Network with members of our business community and get first-hand insight from our special guest speaker the honourable MLA Ravi Kahlon.\n\n \n\nRavi Kahlon was first elected as a member of the legislative assembly (MLA) for Delta North in May\, 2017 and was named British Columbia's Minister of Housing in December\, 2022.\n\n \n\nDuring his time leading the Ministry of Housing Ravi has implemented the Homes for People Action Plan which takes action to create small scale multi-unit housing\, more homes near transit and cracking down on short term rentals. His work also dramatically reduced Residential Tenancy Branch wait times\, streamlined the building permit process\, and made progress on building thousands of affordable homes to rent or own. Additionally\, he has been executing Belonging in B.C.\, a collaborative plan to prevent and reduce homelessness.\n\n\n\nRavi previously served as the Minister of Jobs\, Economic Recovery and Innovation. By supporting businesses and boosting job growth\, he helped guide B.C.'s economy through the pandemic. . Prior to that appointment\, he was Parliamentary Secretary for Forests\, Lands\, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development\, where he championed the use of mass timber and innovation in B.C.'s forest sector.\n\n \n\nAs Parliamentary Secretary for Sport and Multiculturalism\, he helped restore the B.C. Human Rights Commission and traveled the province to build an anti-racism strategy.\n\nRavi's love for sports and athletic competition has also shaped his outlook on life. When he was seven years old\, his father introduced him to field hockey. A two-time Olympian\, Ravi played field hockey for Team Canada at the 2000 and 2008 Olympics.
